Mandarin Duck Closeup

Duck Taxidermy Ideas

Easily one of the most recognizable types of waterfowl in the world, the duck is a must-have game bird that can be found in North and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. Known for their small, elegant builds, beautiful plumage and markings, and distinctive “quacking” vocalizations, the duck is a must-have for any taxidermy collector, especially if you are a bird collector or duck hunter.

Whether you are an avid duck hunting enthusiast or a bird taxidermy collector, All-Taxidermy has a wide variety of duck trophies to choose from. Our best duck taxidermy pieces are represented by our Trophy, Superior, and Excellent and our very best work will be denoted by the Regal Wings Taxidermy logo.

These museum-ready taxidermy mounts are perfect for displaying in nature centers, offices, cabins, lodges, zoological centers, hunting stores, restaurants, bars, and museum exhibitions.

Below are some ideas for adding duck taxidermy mounts to your collection:

Mandarin Duck

1. Mandarin Duck Taxidermy Standing on Wood

The Mandarin Duck (Aix galericulata) is easily one of the world’s most distinctive duck species, with the males being characterized by its red bill and striking orange, purple, green, and white feather coloration. The Mandarin is native to the East Asian countries of Japan, China, and Russia, and has been also introduced in the British Isles and Western Europe.

Pictured here is a Mandarin Duck standing on wood (SKU 2389) originally harvested in Europe (it is not a United States migratory bird). The piece has great colors and attention to detail, earning our “Superior” quality grade. This trophy will look great displayed on a table or bookshelf among your taxidermy waterfowl collection!

Male Mallard Duck in Flight

2. Mallard Duck in Flight

When most people think of a duck, likely the male Mallard Duck (Anas platyrhynchos) is what comes to mind. Native to North America, Central America, Eurasia, and North Africa, this bird has also been introduced to New Zealand, Australia, Peru, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, the Falkland Islands, and South Africa.

What makes the Mallard stand out is the male’s striking iridescent green head and a white ring around his neck. Both males and females also have iridescent purple/blue feathers on their wings. The Mallard is easily one of North America’s most popular game birds, alongside the Ring-Necked Pheasant, Gray Partridge, Northern Bobwhite, and Wild Turkey.

Pictured here is a stunning Mallard drake flying, with some added custom habitat to really sell this piece. Check out the listing here: Mallard Drake Duck Taxidermy Bird Mount for Sale (SKU 1467).

Pair of New Zealand Paradise Ducks

3. Pair of New Zealand Paradise Ducks

Also called the Paradise Shelduck, the New Zealand Paradise Duck (Tadorna variegata), is a really rewarding duck to add to your collection, especially when you add the male and female together.

The drake Paradise Duck is characterized by a black head and barred black body, with the female contrasting his coloration significantly with her white head and chestnut body. The species is native to the North and South Island of New Zealand.

Pictured here is a beautiful pair of New Zealand Paradise Ducks (SKU 1828), perfect as an addition to your cabin, lodge, nature center, or other exhibition!

Adding a male and female duck together is unique and can add more interest to your duck taxidermy collection.
