About the Bobcat

Also known as Lynx Rufus, or the Red Lynx, the bobcat has a conservation status of Least Concern. The cat is native to the Southern Canada, the United States, and Northern Mexico. Additionally, it is the smallest of the lynx species, with the other lynxes being the Canadian, Iberian, and Eurasian lynx.

Other Facts About the Bobcat:

  • The bobcat is a skilled, carnivorous hunter with keen eyes and ears. An opportunistic predator, it preys on rodents, rabbits, birds, fish, snakes, lizards, deer, and livestock, and sometimes even other carnivores.
  • Bobcats are solitary animals with excellent climbing and sprinting abilities.
  • Adults have an average size of 26-41 inches (head and body), with the bobbed tail (from which it gets its name) measuring about 4-7 inches. The bobcat is a medium-sized wild cat, and though it is on the smaller side when compared with its other North American cousins, the Canadian Lynx and Cougar (also known as the Puma or Mountain Lion), it’s still approximately twice the size of the average housecat.
  • The bobcat is a fearless animal and is sometimes referred to as “the spitfire of the animal kingdom.” It is no wonder then, that this feisty cat makes an eye-catching taxidermy display.

Quality Bobcat Mounts

Bobcat mounts are dynamic taxidermy preservations of the North American bobcat. At All-Taxidermy, our bobcat taxidermy includes 1/2 body and full body mounts. These beautiful, high quality bobcat mounts feature the cat in a hunting stance, lying down, or a standing or prowling pose. Some of our mounts include a bobcat pursuing a bird, such as a partridge or a grouse. These full-body mounts are visually arresting, and also feature a realistic, natural habitat display with foliage.

List of Bobcat Mount Ideas

Life-size bobcat mounts are visually stunning, and will look amazing in a cabin, North American mammal museum exhibition, or mounted above a fireplace in your home. Regardless of your choice, we have many bobcat taxidermy options to choose from in our online store. You can get your bobcat mount displayed as one of the following poses:

  • Full-body – Bobcats as full-body taxidermy mounts are dynamic, eye-catching displays. If you are looking for a museum piece, a display for your outdoor gear or hunting store, or even for your cabin, this display is it!
  • Half-body/Wall mount – Half body wall mounts will make a stunning piece over a fireplace or alongside a North American wall mount collection. Some of our wall mounts include a bobcat hunting its prey.
  • Hunting w/ Prey – Our hunting with prey pieces feature a bobcat in pursuit of either a small bird or rodent. Available in both full-body and half-body displays.
  • Crouching – Bobcats crouching or in a stalking stance are also popular. Some of our crouching bobcats also feature the cat in an open-mouthed snarl, making for an eye-catching display.
  • Sitting – Not as popular, a sitting pose nevertheless portrays the beauty of this North American cat in a serene stance.
  • Lying down – Some of our taxidermy mounts display the bobcat in a restful, lying down pose.
  • Lying down/walking on tree branch – Bobcats are expert climbers, so if you like the idea of your bobcat in a tree, or walking across a log, contact our taxidermists for a price.
  • Open Mouthed – Regardless of the position, you will find a number of our mounts to feature the cat with an open-mouthed snarl. This gives your display a more fearsome appearance – it is also an aesthetic nod to the cat’s ferocity and feisty personality.
  • Novelty and oddity – Want a bobcat golfing, riding in a canoe, or dressed as a park ranger? We’ve got you covered! For a more humorous taxidermy display, we can customize your bobcat for a more funny, unique, or bizarre look. This also includes merging designs with other animals.

At All-Taxidermy, we have many poses available to you. In addition, we also have many customization options to craft the exact bobcat display you’re looking for. All-Taxidermy also has lynx mounts and other North American animals available to add to your American mammals taxidermy collection. Bobcat Mount FAQs

How much does it cost to taxidermy a bobcat? The estimated cost range you can expect is between $350.00 to $1200.00. The cost will ultimately depend on the type of mount you are looking to do (e.g. wall mount vs life size mount with habitat). More on bobcat cost here.

Do you prefer a rug for your bobcat? Bobcat rugs display the beauty of the animal’s pelt. A great addition to your taxidermy rug collection that won’t take up as much wall space as a bear rug, you’ll enjoy the beautiful fur of your bobcat.

Bobcat rugs can vary in cost. To get started, please call us at 1-888-983-3886 for a quote.

If you’re a hunter and you have a bobcat you need mounted, you’ll need to freeze it if you’re not able to mount it right away. However, leaving it frozen for more than six months will leave the bobcat vulnerable to having its thin ears freezer burnt. In this case, you should skin the bobcat before (we recommend having your taxidermist skin it for you to ensure best results). When in doubt, talk with your taxidermist about proper steps to take for freezing your bobcat.
